Universal business technique - Essay Example In any case, Anthony Salim and his official authority bunch accept that being adaptable to these eccentric and changing elements of global culture and business rivalry is the way to progress. Bartlett, Ghoshal and Beamish (2008) distinguish the idea of the planned league, which is basically a mixture of previous center rules that have discovered business accomplishment at the headquartered focus of the organization and afterward circulated similarly across universal limits. The Salim Group accepts the exhortation of Bartlett et al. in not taking this fairly ineffective dissemination of center standards and afterward compelling them all through the transnational condition and the business’ different enterprises. Rather, Salim prompts on being versatile to changing economic situations. This adaptability is a triumph factor to be progressively receptive to the outer market condition. For instance, the Salim Group confronted open reaction with saw debasement from the Indonesian go vernment between the Salim Group about its venture banking rehearses (Dieleman, 2006) for stripping 107 distinct resources for the Indonesian government. ... In spite of the fact that this is just a single situation that happened with the Salim Group, it demonstrates that territorial government and other affecting bodies in the administrative condition keep on changing the inward elements of how the business is worked as well as stripped. This is the reason Salim keeps on voyaging, by and by, to various locales of the world to increase a comprehension of what is driving legislative powers or social powers in key development advertises or existing markets so the business can be organized as needs be or new methodologies created dependent on essential information look into examination. This kind of adaptability by taking a proactive remain to initiative and research is a key achievement dynamic. Do We Need Adults As Role Models - Free Essay Example

Children from ages 6-12 have just crashed into an unknown island and with no adult supervision, things are not off to a very good start. A plane carrying English boys was shot down just over the ocean, unfortunately not everyone in the plane survived and with the pilot nowhere to be seen the children become desperate and scatter an throughout the island. Having adults as role models can affect the way one acts, speaks, dresses etc, as explained by William Golding in  ¨The Lord Of The Flies ¨. According to a recent survey, 63% of high school students ages 13-18, have said that their family members affect that way that they speak, act, and think because they are with them on a day to day basis. 24% of those students said that a teacher, coach or neighbor have influenced who they are today. The remaining 13% of those students said that their friend, colleagues, celebrities or others have affected the way they are. In most cases the sons acts like their fathers and the daughters act like their mothers. This inclination is in consistence with the â€Å"parent child relationship† that does, according to Ebenstein and Fogelman, appeal to those who live under totalitarian systems, regardless of being communistic or fascistic† In our lives we always look up to parents, important adults or adult figures (Basirat 197). As described in (page 26) Piggy had asked  ¨Arent there any grownups at all? Ralph responded I dont think so. From this we can understand that Piggy was used to having an adult with him because when he said this, it can be presumed that Piggy could have been timid, given the fact that he asked if there was any grownups around. Shortly after, the surviving children held a meeting led by Ralph. Piggy said â€Å"That’s why Ralph made a meeting. So as we can decide what to do. ¨ When Piggy said this we can infer that Ralph had learned to maintain order and leadership skills from possibly his parents since he was still a child. â€Å"He blows the conch and summons the deserted children together. He suggests the boys making a chief by voting, which shows his thought of law, order and democracy† (Li 119) Now with that being said, having bad role models can affect you the same way good role models can. The children were a mix of groups, one of which was a choir. Since they did not known their names, they had given each other nicknames. In page 7, a certain child was given the name â€Å"fair boy†. When he had confirmed that there were no adults around, he said it in a solemn way â€Å"but then the delight of a realized ambition overcame him.† In this example we can understand that â€Å"fair boy† had always been a good child, but always had an ambition of doing the wrong thing. He had been with people that had a negative attitude, he just needed to find a way to unleash that feeling and soon enough he did. On page 26 Merridew told Ralph, â€Å" we’ll have to look after ourselves.† This proves the confidence of Merridew. One way that he proves that he is confident is by showing a sight of relieve that helped the other children gain some hope. He also shows the characteristic of responsibility, he did this by saying that they had to take care of eac h other. Another characteristic he showed was leadership, it could have been that came from a military family. â€Å"His efforts are aimed at safeguarding the children against the possible dangers of the outside nature, exploring its resources for their benefit, and finally saving them from the island† (Basirat 193). He had enough courage to say that they will stay in the island but they were going two have to take care of one another. Many times teenagers fail to understand that being an adult takes responsibility.Although having a good role model around, to be a good role model, that takes time and experience. In page 133 it states â€Å"The three boys stood in the darkness, striving unsuccessfully to convey the majesty of adult life† The 3 boys had assumed they were good role models to the rest of the surviving children but unfortunately they also became desperate. â€Å"As soon as they get together to make a society, things start to fall apart and there start wars and corruption† (Al-Zamili 157). Later in the passage it got worse for the boys, they started saying things like â€Å"If only they could get a message to us If only they could send us something grown-up.. . . a sign or something.† They had started to panic, the boys needed help from adults, they could not take all of that responsibility by themselves, it was neither the time or the place that they needed to take that amount of responsibility. Being able to take charge of a group of children being a child is like the blind leading the blind. It was not possible for them to do that. They did not have the exp erience, they did not know how to handle a situation like that because they were all still children they still had not done the things or past through situations that an adult has done or gone through. â€Å"Children are not mature enough to make decisions on their own. They are amenable, and more likely to yield to others’ supervision and guidance, especially that of their parents†(Basirat 196). On page 133 things escalated nothing was going good for the children. Piggy began saying things like â€Å"Grown-ups know things,†, â€Å"They ain’t afraid of the dark. They’d meet and have tea and discuss†. This shows that Piggy missed his family and wanted someone to take over, not just anyone but a grown up. It can be very difficult to not have a good parents as role models in ones life. Even when you are by yourself and you have to take responsibility, many times you wish you had your parents or someone grown up to help you. When Piggy, Ralph, and Jack were drifting away and everything was getting old, all 3 boys were wanting help. â€Å"We’re all drifting and things are going rotten. At home there was always a grown-up. Please, sir, please, miss; and then you got an answer†. This was what Piggy had said when everything was going wrong, when they could not take anymore responsibility. He started reflecting on how he always had someone to count on when he was at home, and now that there was no grown up around he did not know what to do. â€Å"I wish my auntie was here.† â€Å"I wish my father. . . Oh, what’s the use ¿Ã¢â‚¬Ëœ. The boys were at the point that they were going to have to give up, they were wishing someone important in their life, someone they looked up to was with them. Regardless of how old anyone is, in a difficult situation that we may be in, we will always remember that one person that has been there for us and when they are gone, whether its our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends or other important people, its going to be difficult knowing that they cant help us anymore. Although the situation will be tough, we must remember what they had taught us as throughout our life and put those skills to good use such as communication, leadership, confidence, responsibility etc.In conclusion, we all need role models in our lives to help us succeed. With good role models we can help keep things calm and organized in the time of need. Despite the fact that we are constantly told what to do at home or at work, we need to recognize that letting out the â€Å"evil or bad† side of us c an lead to more problems in an already bad situation. It is good to have responsibilities but we need to be able to know how much responsibility we can handle. Also we need to know who to look up to, it is good to follow people of good moral and good manners. That way we will inherit or take those character traits into our lives and we will be able to apply them into our everyday lives. Regardless of what people say the majority of the time our attitude, the point of view, the way one speaks, the way we dress, and even the way one sits, we have learned from our parents.

Comparative Politics of the French and Mexican Governments Essay Example For Students

Comparative Politics of the French and Mexican Governments Essay The political systems of today’s world vary tremendously as you span the world. Each of these systems has gone through an evolution based on mistakes of the past and the needs of a stable and equal government. Most nations throughout the world observe political means through either Unitary or Federal legislation. The Federal government of Mexico and the unitary government of France are perfect examples of the differences and similarities of unicameral and bicameral legislature. When looking at the political systems we must first understand the ideologies behind it. The main ideology that has help to define the French political system is that of bicameral legislation. In bicameral legislation the power of making laws is vested into two chambers, both, which must approve a bill before it officially becomes a law. In French politics these two chambers are part of the parliament. One chamber of parliament is the National assembly, which is elected directly by the people, and the second chamber is the senate, in which the Electoral College indirectly elected the members. A bicameral system can be either unitary or federal. The French government is unitary which means that laws give virtually all authority to the central government. The central government may delegate duties to cities or other administrative units, but it retains final authority and can retract any tasks it has delegated. The central government in a unitary system is much more powerful than the central government in a federal system. The reason a central government is more powerful in a system is because unitary governments exercise one level of government unlike that of a federal government which relies on both the central and local governments. France’s political system consist of both a president and a prime minister. The president is elected for a seven-year term by direct popular vote. The presidential powers preside over the Council of Ministers, the High Council of the Judiciary, and as the commander of the armed forces. The president selects the prime minister and appoints cabinet ministers. The prime minister and the Council of Ministers are responsible only to the National Assembly. The prime minister power is minute when compared to that of the president. The president can also elect a new prime minister if he feels the current is not doing his/her job. The French Parliament has two chambers, with supreme legislative authority abided in the National Assembly. The 321 members of the senate serve 9-year terms and are indirectly elected by an electoral college. The Senate has the right to examine and render opinions on legislation. The senate also examines policies initiated by the National Assembly and has the power to delay the passage of legislation. If the two chambers disagree on a bill the final decision rests with the National Assembly. The National Assembly gives 5-year terms to its 577 deputies, since they are chosen directly by the people. The national assembly also has the power to censure the president and prime minister. Members of National Assembly are elected through single member district plurality, while notables elect the senate through indirect elections. France enjoys both the benefits of a single member district polarity and proportional representation. Single member district elections are used when choosing the president and the national assembly since they are both chosen by popular vote. Proportional representation takes effect for the senate based on the percentage of vote’s a party receives as a whole through the notables. Both of these systems are extremely efficient in that the serve there purpose. Just as described in France, Mexico has a bicameral government. The Mexican political system has a lot in common with that of the United States. Mexico has both central and local government, which are divided into three branches: executive, legislative, and judicial. However, in Mexico, the executive branch dominates the other branches to such an extent that the president effectively controls the country’s political system. Given the dominance of the executive over the legislative and judicial branches, interest groups and lobbyists have not developed in Mexico. Interests groups who wish to influence policy do so mostly through the executive branch or seeking contacts with agency heads and cabinet figures. The Civil War in Sudan its Historical Background and its Effects on Comparative Politics and International RelationsAs you see Mexico shares the benefits that the US has with a Federal system. The Central and local government has given Mexicans people a stronger voice in some cases, but remains silenced buy the dominance of the PRI. This unbalanced Party system is somewhat discouraging, but since the creation of PAN and PRD and the implements of proportional representation, the balance has been slowing but effectively began to equal out. As for the 3 branches of government in Mexico’s federal system we see that the executive branch holds extreme power over both the judicial and legislative branches. Not to say that the executive branch holds absolute power but it holds absolute power in the sense that it passively controls all government functions. These unbalanced branches may lead to problems in the future, but as of now only time will tell. As you see Mexico is a great ex ample of how a federal can government operates within the ideology of bicameral legislation. Both Mexico and France have bicameral systems that work well for their countries. When we compare the two we see that we cannot come to a valid conclusion on the basis of which one is better because of the different situations within each country. Mexico enjoys the benefits of a federal government. The federal government allows Mexico to have both a central and local government to provide a prosperous country for the people. Yes, the president enjoys a vast amount of government power when compared to the legislative and judicial branches, but France shares the same problems within their unitary system. Both also share the mix of single member districts and proportional representation as the means of electing public official. If I was to choose the government that I felt was doing a better job, I would most definitely chose Mexico. Reason being that Mexico has two levels of governments, which results in the people of the country being better represented by the local government. Not to say that the government of France is inefficient, but I feel the representation of the people is very important in any society. I also must say I do not totally agree with all that the Mexican government abides by. The extreme governmental power of the president is ludicrous, but no government is perfect. They can only work towards it. From the government policies that I have presented and the intense studies that I have done, I conclude that neither the federal or unitary system have a comparable advantage. Only when the government of a nation exercises and uses the power vested within that political ideology efficiently, will one be able to say that a federal system is better then a unitary system. Until each system is used through absolute efficiency, we have no basis to compare the two unless each system achieves maximum benefits for the people.
